What stands out
A quick read of the recorded project description.
Data is stored in a MySQL database and connected via mysqli
Provides clean links (/about) with fallback to query strings (?page=about)
Demonstrates a basic separation of functions, content, and templates
Mobile-friendly page layout
A minimal example aimed at PHP and MySQL beginners
Template Details
This project is a simple travel-themed page written in PHP and MySQL. The author notes it was completed in the third year of undergraduate study as one of their earliest PHP projects, aimed at beginners completely unfamiliar with PHP and MySQL. The code is deliberately kept minimal while demonstrating a basic layered approach: function logic, content, and templates are separated.
Pages organize content through PHP variables, arrays, and functions; data comes from a MySQL database, and a mobile-friendly layout is provided. Links support clean forms without query strings (e.g., /about), falling back to query-string forms (e.g., ?page=about) when unavailable.
Installation requires XAMPP: place the repository in a local environment, edit the mysqli_connect host, username, password, and database name in function.php, start Apache and MySQL, then create a database named tourstravel in PHPMyAdmin and import database/travelblog.sql. The site is then accessible at http://localhost/tours-and-travel/. The repository uses the MIT license, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version of the code, provided copyright and license notices are retained; third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons require separate license verification, and external services such as domain, hosting, and database may incur additional charges.
Is it right for your project?
Use Cases
- Learning the basic process of connecting PHP to MySQL and reading data
- Practicing page routing and template separation in a local XAMPP environment
- As an introductory practice project combining travel-themed static content with a database
- For understanding the implementation of clean links and query-string fallback
Suitable For
- Developers just starting to learn PHP and MySQL
- Beginners who need a minimal runnable example to understand layered structure
- Students or self-learners practicing in a local XAMPP environment
Getting started & customization
Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.
- 1
XAMPP must be installed first, and Apache and MySQL started
- 2
Edit the database host, username, password, and database name in mysqli_connect within function.php
- 3
Create a database named tourstravel in PHPMyAdmin and import database/travelblog.sql
- 4

Additional costs & items to verify
- XAMPP (including Apache and MySQL) must be installed locally before running; otherwise the site cannot start.
- function.php must be manually edited with the database host, username, password, and database name before use; otherwise the database cannot be connected.
- A database named tourstravel must be manually created in PHPMyAdmin and database/travelblog.sql imported for data to display correctly.
- Demo images, fonts, icons, and other third-party assets require separate license verification and cannot be judged solely by the code's MIT license.
- External services such as domain, hosting, database, payment, or AI may incur additional charges.

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

No demo link is recorded. Use the repository instructions to evaluate the project locally; the screenshot alone cannot establish interactive behavior.
The catalog identifies HTML as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

Tours and Travel Simple PHP page with MySQL database
This project was introduced and created in Third year B.E-Computer Engg as one of my first PHP project. It is meant for absolute beginners who are new to PHP and MySQL. I've intentionally kept it the most minimal possible while introducing some separation of concerns.
## Features
* PHP variables
* PHP arrays
* PHP functions
* Database
* Mobile friendly
* Pretty links (/about) with fallback to query string (?page=about)
* Basic example of separation of concerns (functionality, content, template)
## Installation
Make sure you have [Xampp](https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html) installed on your machine.
1. Clone or Download the repository
```shell
git clone https://github.com/amitbauriya/tours-and-travel.git
cd tours-and-travel
```
2. Setup database connectivity edit function.php ([See Setup credentials](https://github.com/amitbauriya/tours-and-travel#Setup))
3. Run Xampp Control Panel and start the following (Apache and MySQL)
Your application will be running at ```http://localhost/tours-and-travel/```
### Setup
```
$cn=mysqli_connect("localhost","database_user","database_pwd","database_name");
```
## Database
Go to PHPMyadmin ```http://localhost/phpmyadmin/```
1. Create a new database name "tourstravel"
2. Now import the database files located at database/travelblog.sql
You are free to change any modification in template or upgrade it ;-)
