Template Details

This is a single-column blog example built with Jekyll. The author extended and customized the default structure generated by `jekyll new .`. The repository description states it is ready for GitHub Pages and provides a complete command sequence from cloning, renaming, installing dependencies, editing `_config.yml`, to running `gulp`.

The build process is driven by Gulp: the `gulp` command runs two tasks, Jekyll and Serve. The former is equivalent to `jekyll serve` in a default Jekyll project (but does not start a local server), while the latter uses BrowserSync to start a local service on the `_site` directory. There is also a Sass task that prefixes and minifies the compiled CSS. The README notes that on first starting browser-sync, the page sometimes displays incorrectly and requires a manual browser refresh.

Functionally, the template integrates Simple Jekyll Search for site search, Jekyll Paginate for post pagination, and the Font Awesome icon font. The page background images come from two external sources: Openclipart and wallpaperswide. The repository was created in 2016 and has not been updated since; the availability of dependencies and third-party plugins should be verified independently.

Is it right for your project?

Use Cases

  • As a reference example for learning the structure of a single-column Jekyll blog
  • Hosting a personal static blog on GitHub Pages
  • A lightweight blog project that needs site search and post pagination
  • A development workflow that uses Gulp to chain Jekyll builds and local preview

Suitable For

  • Developers familiar with basic Jekyll and Gulp commands
  • A single-column blog site focused on post listings
  • Personal projects planned for deployment to GitHub Pages
  • Users who want to further modify the theme and styles on this basis

Getting started & customization

Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.

  1. 1

After cloning the repository, rename the directory and enter it, then follow the README to run `sudo gem install jekyll-paginate` and `npm install`

  2. 2

Edit `_config.yml` to complete site configuration, then run `gulp` to start the build and local service

  3. 3

On first starting browser-sync, the page may display incorrectly and requires a manual browser refresh

  4. 4

The repository has not been updated since 2016; Jekyll, Gulp, and third-party plugin versions need independent compatibility verification

  5. 5

Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons must be checked separately under their respective licenses; the MIT license covers only the code in this version

Usage conditions & limitations

Free to use · keep license notice

This entry covers the free version under the MIT license in the public repository; the free scope is the code of this version and does not mean external services or third-party assets are free.

Must comply with when using

  • Free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version's code are permitted.
  • When distributing copies or substantial portions of the code, retain the original author's copyright notice and the full MIT license notice.
  • The code is provided as is; warranties and limitations of liability are governed by the original license and applicable law.

Additional costs & items to verify

  • Demo images, fonts, icons, and other third-party assets must be checked under their respective licenses and cannot be judged solely by the code's MIT license.
  • External services such as domains, hosting, databases, payments, or AI may incur additional charges.
  • Dependencies must be installed before use: install the Jekyll pagination plugin via `sudo gem install jekyll-paginate` and install Node/Gulp-related dependencies with `npm install`; the environment requires Ruby gems and npm.
  • Manual editing of `_config.yml` is required to complete site configuration before building and running normally.
  • Known limitation: on first starting browser-sync, the page sometimes does not display correctly and requires a manual browser refresh to view properly.
  • The site search feature depends on the third-party plugin Simple Jekyll Search (by Christian Fei), which is distributed under its own license; its license and availability must be checked separately.
  • The post pagination feature depends on the third-party plugin Jekyll Paginate, which must be installed separately and follows its own license.
  • Icons use the third-party Font Awesome icon font, which follows its own license; the MIT license does not cover this font resource.
  • Page background images come from two external sources, Openclipart and wallpaperswide, and their usage conditions must be checked separately under each site's license.

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.

The catalog identifies Jekyll as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

## Tareas Gulp
