Template Details
This template is a personal portfolio website. The README provides tutorial-style instructions on how to clone the repository, edit content in a text editor, and deploy to GitHub Pages. The page structure includes sections such as projects, about, resume, and footer; the footer can hold social links such as GitHub and Twitter.
The modification process includes: enter your name in index.html; place project images in assets/img/portfolio and update the image paths and code links; add a personal image, city, email, interests, and skills in the About section; write education and experience directly in the resume section and link a PDF resume to the Download Here button; use Font Awesome icons to add links for GitHub, LinkedIn, Medium, Twitter, YouTube, and others. Project filtering uses the Isotope plugin, and you must modify both the filter items under ul id="portfolio-fltrs" and the div class of each portfolio entry. In addition, assets/sampleREADME.md provides a README template that can be filled in and saved to the repository root.
The hosting section describes two methods: create a repository named username.github.io on GitHub and upload the files, or clone, commit, and push via Git; the README states that the website can be viewed at https://username.github.io after about 5–10 minutes, and if it does not take effect, check the GitHub Pages source branch in the repository settings. The README does not provide a dependency list, build steps, browser compatibility, or accessibility notes.
Is it right for your project?
Use Cases
- An individual needs to quickly build and maintain a portfolio page themselves
- Wants to host a static personal website for free with GitHub Pages
- Job seekers or developers who need to display project images, a resume, and social links
- Wants to use an existing HTML template as a basis to learn page structure and Isotope filtering
Suitable For
- Individual users who can edit HTML and manage static files
- People who have a GitHub account and plan to host with GitHub Pages
- Portfolio scenarios that need project display, a personal introduction, and a resume download entry
Getting started & customization
Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.
- 1
The template files can be obtained by git clone or by downloading a ZIP
- 2
Open index.html in a text editor and follow the README steps to replace the name, projects, about, resume, and social links
- 3
Place project images in assets/img/portfolio and update the image paths in the page
- 4
When using Isotope filtering, you must modify both the options under ul id="portfolio-fltrs" and the div class of each portfolio entry
- 5
Hosting on GitHub Pages requires creating a username.github.io repository and uploading or pushing files; the README says it can be accessed after about 5–10 minutes

Original README
In order to sort and filter the projects, I used the plugin Isotope. You can customize these filters to be anything you want. But make sure you change both the filter options under the `ul id="portfolio-fltrs"` section, and within each portfolio item's div class.

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.
The catalog identifies HTML as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

</p>
Now that you have the files on your local computer, you can open them in a text editor. The file structure should be what you see above.
The first thing you will want to do is to customize the index.html page. This includes a projects section, about section, resume section, and a footer where you can link your GitHub, Twitter, etc.
#### Step 1: Put in your name
At the top, in the about section, and anywhere else you want to display it.
#### Step 2: Update the sections
Customize the projects section with images of your own projects and place them in the `assets/img/portfolio folder`. Update the path names of the images displayed, and link them to your GitHub to display the code.
Add your image to the About section, as well as your city, email, interests, and skills.
Put in your resume. Type out your schooling and experience directly into the HTML, and link a PDF version of your resume to the <strong>Download Here</strong> button. Currently the PDF example is saved in the `assets/img` folder, where you can save your own.
Add links to your GitHub, LinkedIn, Medium, Twitter, YouTube, etc. You can find the associated icons on [Font Awesome](https://fontawesome.com/icons?d=gallery), and add in the link to the `i tag class`.
#### Step 3: Update the Isotope filter
In order to sort and filter the projects, I used the plugin Isotope. You can customize these filters to be anything you want. But make sure you change both the filter options under the `ul id="portfolio-fltrs"` section, and within each portfolio item's div class.
#### Step 4: Create your own README
Under `assets/sampleREADME.md` you will find a template README you can fill out, and save to the root of your repository. Any time your repo is visited, it will show up on your main page, giving more info about you and what you want to showcase.

#### Now that you have made the website your own, you can host it for free on GitHub. The simplest way is to:
1. Make sure you have a GitHub account
2. Create a new repository with the following selections
- Repo Name: **username.github.io** (for example I named mine: caly-pso.github.io). This is what will show up in the URL
- Check **Initialize Repository with a README**
- Select **Create repository**
3. Now that the repo is made, in GitHub, select the dropdown **Add file** and choose **Upload files**. Now drag and drop the files in your portfolio folder into the browser. Once uploaded, **Commit** your changes.

After 5-10 minutes your website will be viewable at: https://username.github.io. If it is not there, check your repo's setting to ensure the GitHub Pages source is pointing to the correct branch.
