What stands out

A quick read of the recorded project description.

01

A minimal Svelte + Electron starter template that keeps only the basic path of building, bundling, watching, and loading the renderer process

02

Browser-side code uses ES6 import; relative-path components and node_modules dependencies are both bundled

03

Node-side code uses CommonJS require; modules are not bundled and are resolved at runtime

04

The README clearly distinguishes the two import methods and notes not to use require to load modules that need bundling

05

Uses the MIT license, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution

Template Details

This template is positioned as a minimal Svelte + Electron starter. The README states only one thing: use `npm start` to build, bundle, and watch the Svelte app, then load it in Electron as the renderer thread. It provides no additional UI structure or feature modules, making it suitable for those who want to organize the Electron main process and Svelte rendering layer from scratch.

Module import methods are explicitly divided into two categories. Code targeting the browser environment uses ES6 `import`, which can bring in Svelte components or utility functions from relative paths, as well as packages from node_modules (such as writable from svelte/store); these modules are bundled. Code targeting Node uses CommonJS `require()`, and these modules are not bundled but resolved at runtime, such as electron, path, and fs. The README specifically warns against using `require()` to load modules that need bundling, such as svelte/store.

The repository uses the MIT license, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version of the code, provided the copyright notice and the full MIT license notice are retained when distributing. The code is provided as is. Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons must be checked against their respective licenses; external services such as domains, hosting, databases, payments, or AI may incur separate charges.

Is it right for your project?

Use Cases

  • Quickly verifying how a Svelte component runs in an Electron renderer process
  • Needing an Electron + Svelte starting point without extra UI structure that can be extended independently
  • Using both browser-side bundled modules and Node-side runtime modules in the same project

Suitable For

  • Developers familiar with npm and basic Electron concepts who want to organize the main process and rendering layer themselves
  • Svelte users who need minimal dependencies and can accept building the project structure from scratch
  • Scenarios for learning or prototype validation, rather than directly serving as a complete product skeleton

Getting started & customization

Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.

  1. 1

    Running `npm start` builds, bundles, and watches the Svelte app, then loads it as the renderer thread into Electron

  2. 2

    Browser-side modules use ES6 import and are bundled; Node-side modules use CommonJS require, are not bundled, and are resolved at runtime

  3. 3

    Do not use require() to load modules that need bundling, such as svelte/store

  4. 4

    When distributing copies or substantial portions of the code, retain the original author's copyright notice and the full MIT license notice

  5. 5

    Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons must have their licenses checked separately; external services may incur separate charges

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

# Svelte Electron Template

The bare minimum boilerplate to use svelte in electron

![screenshot](screenshot.png)

## Quick start

`npm start` to build, bundle, and watch the svelte app, then load it as renderer thread in an electon app.

## Import modules for **browser**

Use ES6 `import`. The modules will be bundled.

```javascript
// you can import from relative path
import MyComponent from './MyComponent.svelte';
import { myUtilFunc } from './MyUtilFunc';
// or from node modules
import { writable } from 'svelte/store';
```

## Import modules for **node**

Use CommonJS `require()`. The modules will NOT be bundled. The import will be resolved at runtime.

```javascript
const app = require('electron').remote.app;
const path = require('path');
const fs = require('fs');
// DON'T do this. It will NOT be bundled!
const { writable } = require('svelte/store');
```
