Template Details

This is an Astro-based starter template. The repository name indicates Tailwind theming, but the README contains the default description of Astro's official basic example and does not provide specific documentation for Tailwind configuration, theme variables, or custom styles.

The project structure is clear: public/ holds static assets such as favicon.svg, src/components/ contains the example component Card.astro, src/layouts/ contains the Layout.astro layout, and .astro or .md files under src/pages/ generate routes based on their filenames. The README states that the components directory can hold Astro, React, Vue, Svelte, and Preact components.

Available commands include npm install to install dependencies, npm run dev to start the local development server, npm run build to build to ./dist/, npm run preview to preview the build locally, and npm run astro to invoke the CLI. The repository uses the MIT license, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of the code, but third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons require separate license verification, and external services such as domains and hosting may incur additional charges.

Is it right for your project?

Use Cases

  • You need a basic Astro project directory structure and want to start building a static site from example components and layouts
  • You want to organize pages by filename routing and generate multi-page content with .astro or .md files
  • You need a local development server and build preview workflow to verify static output before deployment

Suitable For

  • Developers familiar with Astro basics who want to start from a minimal example
  • Individuals or teams needing MIT-licensed starter code that can be freely modified and used commercially
  • Users planning to configure Tailwind themes, styles, and third-party assets themselves

Getting started & customization

Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.

  1. 1

    Run npm install in the project root to install dependencies

  2. 2

    Run npm run dev to start the local development server

  3. 3

    Run npm run build to generate the static site into ./dist/, then use npm run preview to preview it locally

  4. 4

    The README is Astro's official basic example description; Tailwind theme configuration must be confirmed by checking the repository files yourself

  5. 5

    Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons require separate license verification under their respective terms

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.

The catalog identifies Astro as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

## 🚀 Project Structure

Inside of your Astro project, you'll see the following folders and files:

```
/
├── public/
│   └── favicon.svg
├── src/
│   ├── components/
│   │   └── Card.astro
│   ├── layouts/
│   │   └── Layout.astro
│   └── pages/
│       └── index.astro
└── package.json
```

Astro looks for `.astro` or `.md` files in the `src/pages/` directory. Each page is exposed as a route based on its file name.

There's nothing special about `src/components/`, but that's where we like to put any Astro/React/Vue/Svelte/Preact components.

Any static assets, like images, can be placed in the `public/` directory.

## 🧞 Commands

All commands are run from the root of the project, from a terminal:

| Command                | Action                                             |
| :--------------------- | :------------------------------------------------- |
| `npm install`          | Installs dependencies                              |
| `npm run dev`          | Starts local dev server at `localhost:3000`        |
| `npm run build`        | Build your production site to `./dist/`            |
| `npm run preview`      | Preview your build locally, before deploying       |
| `npm run astro ...`    | Run CLI commands like `astro add`, `astro preview` |
| `npm run astro --help` | Get help using the Astro CLI |
