What stands out
A quick read of the recorded project description.
Four profiles: SEO (GA4, Search Console, PageSpeed, Cloudflare), finance, health, and pets, each with a renderer, fictional examples, a route manifest, and an editor contract
Dual workflows with a local wizard and command line: the wizard runs only on 127.0.0.1; the updater rebuilds only the embedded data region while preserving custom HTML/CSS and a .bak backup
Finance profile bill aids: autopay badges change color by days remaining, priority reminders, urgency-sorted due dates, append-only payment history, and Markdown action-plan sync
Public theme directory themes/manifest.json lists default and compatible profiles plus corresponding CSS files; alternative themes include Plasma Green, Aurora Borealis, and Midnight Blue
Clear privacy boundaries: data.json and generated HTML are plaintext; generated artifacts and local state are gitignored; example data is fictional
Template Details
This is a dashboard seed template built around static HTML, emphasizing local-first and zero-dependency operation: generated pages can be opened directly from file:// without accounts, a backend, telemetry, API keys, package installation, or network connectivity. Templates are organized around profiles, currently covering SEO, finance, health, and pets. Each profile has four public files—a renderer, fictional examples, a route manifest, and a versioned editor contract. Data lives in local JSON, and standalone dashboard pages are generated via the command line or a local wizard.
There are two workflows. The local wizard starts by double-clicking Dashboard.cmd on Windows, or via npm run dashboard on macOS/Linux. It runs only on 127.0.0.1, edits the output directory you choose, and closes when you press Stop or after it goes idle. The command-line approach uses npm run build-dashboard with a specified profile and name, then npm run dashboard:update to rebuild only the embedded data region, preserving custom HTML/CSS outside the generated data block and keeping a rotating dashboard.html.bak. The updater validates the profile contract, does not treat --force as an update path, and does not rewrite data.json.
The finance profile adds bill-tracking aids on top of snapshots: autopay badges shift from calm to amber (≤7 days) to pulsing rose (≤3 days) based on days remaining; overdue autopay dates remain unconfirmed until you record them; priority reminders are generated from overdue and upcoming bills; due dates are sorted by urgency; npm run fin:history appends an append-only payment history; npm run fin:action-plan syncs a Markdown plan into a checklist with archive/restore. The README explicitly states that the finance profile is a customizable snapshot, not a payment ledger.
Themes are managed by the public themes/manifest.json directory, which lists default/compatible profiles and each theme's CSS file; profile default themes remain distinct, with alternatives including Plasma Green, Aurora Borealis, and Midnight Blue. The repository also provides optional AI command examples (.claude/commands.example/) with a .example suffix; they must be manually copied and the suffix removed before the assistant will load them, and they operate only on the template's example finance data.
Regarding privacy, data.json, generated HTML, export files, and dashboard.html.bak are all unencrypted plaintext; generated dashboards, local plans, keys, agent state, and QA screenshots are gitignored. Profile examples use fictional data, and the README requires that real financial, health, analytics, or pet records not be used as examples, screenshots, issues, or documentation. Browser-local theme, collapse, and checklist state is ephemeral and not included in JSON backups. The project uses the MIT license, permitting use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version's code, but third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons must be checked against their respective licenses, and external services like domains and hosting may incur separate charges.
Is it right for your project?
Use Cases
- Maintain SEO metric snapshots in local JSON and generate an offline-openable SEO dashboard page
- Track financial snapshots such as cash, bills, due dates, payment history, and loans, and use bill aids to view upcoming autopay and overdue reminders
- Record health data such as vitals, medications, labs, habits, and sleep to generate a personal health dashboard
- Record pet weight, quality of life, fluid therapy, and warning signs to generate a pet care dashboard
- Extend custom JSON dashboards or add new domain profiles based on existing profile renderers and contracts
Suitable For
- Individual users who want data to remain entirely local without relying on a backend or cloud services
- People who need an offline-available static dashboard that opens directly from the file system
- Developers willing to edit local JSON and accept a command-line or local wizard workflow
- Front-end users who want to customize their own dashboard based on an MIT-licensed seed template
Getting started & customization
Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.
- 1
After cloning the repository, generate a dashboard with npm run build-dashboard -- --profile seo --name "Your Name", then update only the embedded data region with npm run dashboard:update -- --out my-dashboard
- 2
On Windows, double-click Dashboard.cmd to start the local wizard; on macOS/Linux use npm run dashboard. The wizard runs only on 127.0.0.1 and closes when you press Stop or after it goes idle
- 3
data.json, generated HTML, export files, and dashboard.html.bak are all unencrypted plaintext; assess storage location and backup methods accordingly
- 4
The finance profile's AI command examples have a .example suffix; they must be copied to .claude/commands/ and the suffix removed before the assistant will load them, and they operate only on template example data
- 5
Validate changes with npm test, npm run profiles, and npm run check:public-boundary; adding a profile requires four profile files, safe text rendering, contract tests, and documentation

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.
The catalog identifies HTML as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

# Dashboard

**Make one dashboard. For everyone.** ✨
Choose SEO, finances, health, or pets; edit local JSON; get a polished standalone dashboard. No
account, backend, telemetry, API key, package install, or network connection is required.
</div>

## See it first
| SEO | Finances | Health | Pets |
|---|---|---|---|
|  |  |  |  |
| Aurora SEO | Emerald Finance | Vitality Health | Dusk Companion |
The example HTML files under `profiles/` open directly from `file://` and use fictional data. They
have no required CDN, remote font, or remote chart runtime.
## Quick start
Download or clone the repository, then choose a workflow.
### Local wizard
On Windows, double-click `Dashboard.cmd`. On macOS or Linux, use:
```bash
npm run dashboard
```
The temporary wizard runs only on `127.0.0.1`, edits the output folder you choose, and shuts down
when you press **Stop** or it becomes idle. Its forms and raw-JSON editor use the same validation and
update core as the command line.
### Command line
```bash
git clone https://github.com/jenninexus/dashboard.git
cd dashboard
npm run build-dashboard -- --profile seo --name "Your Name"
```
Then edit `my-dashboard/data.json`, rebuild only the embedded data region, and open the result:
```bash
npm run dashboard:update -- --out my-dashboard
```
The updater validates the profile contract, preserves custom HTML/CSS outside the generated data
block, and keeps one rotating `dashboard.html.bak`. It never treats `--force` as an update path and
never rewrites `data.json`.
## Profiles
| Profile | Tracks | Default theme |
|---|---|---|
| **SEO** | GA4 · Search Console · PageSpeed · Cloudflare | `aurora-seo` |
| **Finances** | cash · bills · deadlines · payment history · action plan · loans · income | `emerald-finance` |
| **Health** | vitals · meds · labs · habits · sleep | `vitality-health` |
| **Pets** | weight · quality of life · fluids · red flags | `dusk-companion` |
Each profile owns four public files: its renderer, fictional example, routing manifest, and compact
versioned editor contract. See [profiles/README.md](profiles/README.md) for the exact format.
The finances profile is a customizable snapshot, not a payment ledger. It adds bill-tracker
helpers on top of the snapshot:
- **Autopay escalation** — autopay badges go calm → amber at ≤7 days → pulsing rose at ≤3 days
(static under reduced motion); a passed autopay date stays *unconfirmed* until you log it.
- **Auto priority alerts** — generated from overdue/near bills and deadlines, listed after your
hand-written alerts.
- **Urgency-sorted deadlines** — most overdue first, then soonest.
- **Append-only payment history** — `npm run fin:history` appends an entry and refreshes the page.
- **ACTION-PLAN.md checklist** — `npm run fin:action-plan` syncs a Markdown plan into a checklist
with archive/restore.
See [docs/finances-profile.md](docs/finances-profile.md) for the scope, thresholds and data fields. For printable pet-care sheets,

### Optional AI commands (finances)
`.claude/commands.example/` ships three example commands for AI coding assistants that read
`.claude/commands/`: `dash-fin-start.md.example`, `dash-bills.md.example` and `dash-ap-done.md.example`
(they become `/dash-fin-start`, `/dash-bills` and `/dash-ap-done` once copied). Because of the `.example`
suffix, no assistant loads them until you copy them in. They are templates, not live commands,
and they operate only on this template's example finance data (`profiles/finances/example-data.json`, or
your own copy built into `my-dashboard/`) — they are unrelated to any private finance workspace. The
`dash-` prefix keeps them from colliding with commands you may already have.
To use them in your own clone, copy them and drop the `.example` suffix (the destination is gitignored, so your edits stay local):
```bash
mkdir -p .claude/commands && for f in .claude/commands.example/*.md.example; do cp "$f" ".claude/commands/$(basename "$f" .example)"; done
# Windows PowerShell: New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force .claude/commands; Get-ChildItem .claude/commands.example/*.md.example | ForEach-Object { Copy-Item $_ (Join-Path .claude/commands $_.BaseName) }
```
## Themes
`themes/manifest.json` is the public theme catalog. It lists default/compatible profiles and the CSS
files shipped by each theme. Profile defaults remain intentionally distinct; alternates include
Plasma Green, Aurora Borealis, and Midnight Blue.
The committed CSS is the complete public runtime contract. A generated dashboard never imports a
private kit or machine-local path.
## Privacy and safety
- `data.json`, generated HTML, exports, and `dashboard.html.bak` are unencrypted plaintext files.
- Generated dashboards, local plans, secrets, agent state, and QA captures are gitignored.
- Profile examples are fictional. Do not use real financial, health, analytics, or pet records as
fixtures, screenshots, issues, or documentation.
- Browser-local theme, collapse, and checklist state is disposable and is not included in JSON
backups.
The exact public/local boundary is documented in
[docs/PUBLIC-LOCAL-SPLIT.md](docs/PUBLIC-LOCAL-SPLIT.md).
## Repository map
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `profiles/` | Four domain renderers, examples, manifests, and editor contracts |
| `themes/` | Public theme CSS and compatibility manifest |
| `scripts/` | Shared core, CLI, local wizard, boundary check, and optional capture wrapper |
| `docs/images/` | Runtime art referenced by profiles and copied into generated output |
| `docs/screenshots/hero/` | Curated four-image README gallery only |
| `configs/` | Portable optional screenshot-capture configuration |
Full breakpoint captures are local QA evidence, not public documentation assets.
## Verify or contribute
```bash
npm test
npm run profiles
npm run check:public-boundary
```
Keep changes static, offline-capable, fictional, and profile-specific. A new profile must include all
four profile files, safe text rendering, contract tests, and documentation for any new behavior.
