Template Details

Astro Theme: Minimal Blog is an Astro blog theme published by LekoArts, with the repository under the MIT license. It targets developers who want to quickly set up a personal blog, offering common blog capabilities such as article writing, tags, search, subscription, and sitemap.

Content is written in MDX, styling uses Tailwind, code blocks are rendered by Expressive Code, and it includes built-in Aside callout blocks and a Sandpack-based Playground component for live code demos. The theme comes with a command-line assistant script that generates article frontmatter and files through a Q&A flow. Site title, navigation, and tag mappings are maintained centrally in constants.ts, and frontmatter fields can be adjusted in content.config.ts.

Before use, install pnpm, clone the repository, run pnpm install to install dependencies, then use pnpm dev to start the development server. Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons need to be checked separately under their respective licenses; external services like domains and hosting may incur separate charges.

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.

The catalog identifies Astro as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

## 📝 Using & modifying this theme

### Add content

This theme features a CLI to help you scaffold new blog posts. It asks you questions to fill out the frontmatter and creates a file in the end. Run the CLI:

```shell
pnpm assistant
```

If you want to extend it, change the [`assistant.ts`](./scripts/assistant.ts) file.

### Change constants

Parts of the theme are referencing [`constants.ts`](./src/constants.ts) to e.g. set the site title or main navigation. Modify its contents to suit your site before deploying it.

### Change existing tags / Add new tags

Inside [`constants.ts`](./src/constants.ts) the `FRONTMATTER_TAGS` map contains the available tags for your site. You need to add your display name and slug of the tag inside this map. The display name will be used in the UI and the slug will be used in the URL.

It's referenced by Astro's content collections and also by the [`assistant.ts`](./scripts/assistant.ts) file.

You can add a new tag like so:

```ts
export const FRONTMATTER_TAGS = new Map(
	[
		// Existing tags...
		['Display name', 'slug-of-your-tag'] as const,
	],
)
```

## 🔍 Reference

### Blog post frontmatter

By default, these frontmatter fields are available. You need to change [`content.config.ts`](./src/content.config.ts) to adjust it.

```yaml
title: Markdown Reference Overview
slug: markdown-reference-overview
description: A post showcasing the markdown formatting of a post
date: 2025-02-18
lastUpdated: 2025-02-18
tags:
  - General
  - MDX
searchIndex: true
