What stands out

A quick read of the recorded project description.

01

Generates a static link-in-bio page with Hugo and the repository's built-in bonsai theme

02

Page content is centralized in the params block of hugo.yml; pushing to main after edits triggers a build

03

GitHub Actions builds and deploys to GitHub Pages, automatically enabling Pages on the first run

04

Supports static hosting on Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel, and others, requiring the HUGO_VERSION environment variable

05

Optional custom domain, passed via the static/CNAME file

06

Licensed under Apache-2.0, with the bonsai theme's full history preserved in the repository

Template Details

This is a personal link aggregation page template that the author uses to replace third-party services like Linktree. Page content is centralized in the params block of hugo.yml; after editing, pushing to the main branch triggers a GitHub Actions build, which generates a static site with Hugo and the bonsai theme and deploys it to GitHub Pages. The repository includes the bonsai theme (with full history preserved), along with a content/_index.md placeholder file, a static/images/ avatar directory, and a deployment workflow. Local development requires Hugo Extended 0.128 or later; you can preview with hugo server and build to the public directory with hugo --gc --minify. For deployment, the workflow automatically enables Pages on its first run via actions/configure-pages, provided the repository's Actions workflow permissions are set to read and write; an optional custom domain only requires writing the domain into static/CNAME. The baseURL in hugo.yml is set to /, and the GitHub Pages workflow overrides it with the Pages address, so only that host uses the /iammiti99/ subpath. It can also be deployed to Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, or Vercel with the build command hugo --gc --minify, output directory public, and the HUGO_VERSION environment variable set; when HUGO_BASEURL is not set, the site is served from the host root path, but og:image and canonical links remain relative paths.

Suitable For

  • Individual users who want to self-host a link-in-bio page
  • Developers familiar with or willing to use Hugo and Git workflows
  • Those who need to deploy a link page to GitHub Pages or other static hosting
  • Users who want to modify page content based on the existing bonsai theme

Usage conditions & limitations

Free to use · keep license notice

This entry covers the free version in the public repository under the Apache-2.0 license; the free scope is the code of that version and does not imply that external services or third-party assets are free.

Must comply with when using

  • Free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution are permitted; the Apache-2.0 license must be included when distributing.
  • Modified files must carry prominent notices of changes, and relevant copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices must be retained.
  • If the original project includes a NOTICE file, applicable attribution notices from it must be retained when distributing derivative works.
  • The license includes an applicable contributor patent grant; initiating patent litigation as described in the license terminates that patent grant, and no trademark rights are granted.
  • The code is provided as-is; warranties and limitations of liability are governed by the original license and applicable law.

Additional costs & items to verify

  • The README explicitly states that this page is the author's own self-hosted Linktree alternative, a personal-use project rather than a finished template for general scenarios.
  • Local development and building require Hugo Extended 0.128 or later; the standard Hugo version does not meet the requirement.
  • When using GitHub Actions for automatic deployment to GitHub Pages, the repository's Workflow permissions must be set to Read and write; otherwise, the first run cannot automatically enable Pages.
  • When deploying to other hosting platforms such as Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, or Vercel, the HUGO_VERSION environment variable must be set to 0.154.0 (Hugo Extended).
  • If the HUGO_BASEURL environment variable is not set, the site is accessible from the host root path, but og:image and canonical links remain relative paths, affecting social previews.
  • Demo images, fonts, icons, and other third-party assets must be checked against their respective licenses; they cannot be judged solely by the code's Apache-2.0 license.
  • External services such as domains, hosting, databases, payments, or AI may incur additional charges.

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.

The catalog identifies Hugo as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

# iammiti99

Personal link-in-bio page — built with [Hugo](https://gohugo.io) and the
[bonsai](themes/bonsai) theme. Self-hosted Linktree
alternative for my own use.

## How it works

Edit [`hugo.yml`](hugo.yml) (`params:` block) → push to `main` → GitHub
Actions builds with Hugo + bonsai → output deploys to GitHub Pages.

## Local development

Requires Hugo Extended ≥ 0.128.

```bash
hugo server          # http://localhost:1313
hugo --gc --minify   # build to ./public
```

## Deployment

Every push to `main` deploys to GitHub Pages. The workflow self-enables Pages
on first run via `actions/configure-pages@v5` with `enablement: true`, so no
manual UI setup is required for fresh forks (provided **Settings → Actions →
General → Workflow permissions** is set to "Read and write").

(Optional) Custom domain: drop a `static/CNAME` file containing your apex
domain — Hugo will copy it through to the deployed site.

### Base URL

`hugo.yml` sets `baseURL: /`, so a plain `hugo` build serves from the domain
root. The GitHub Pages workflow overrides it with the Pages URL
(`https://<owner>.github.io/iammiti99/`), so only that host gets the
`/iammiti99/` subpath.

### Other hosts (Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel)

| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Build command | `hugo --gc --minify` |
| Output directory | `public` |
| Env `HUGO_VERSION` | `0.154.0` (Hugo Extended) |
| Env `HUGO_BASEURL` (optional) | the site's full URL, e.g. `https://iammiti99.pages.dev/` |

Without `HUGO_BASEURL` the site is served from the host's root URL, but
`og:image` and the canonical link stay relative. Set it so social link previews
get absolute URLs.

## Project layout

```
hugo.yml                 # site content — edit params here
content/_index.md        # placeholder so Hugo renders the index
static/images/           # avatar etc.
themes/bonsai/           # bonsai theme (in-repo, full history)
.github/workflows/deploy.yml
public/                  # build output (gitignored)
```
