Template Details
This is a "classic-themed" blog starter repository built with Eleventy. The author positions it as a highly personalized template and notes that the project will continue to be adjusted. The repository underwent a complete rewrite (v2) at the end of 2022, removing the Gulp-related workflow and reorganizing the build around Eleventy itself.
The theme is partly derived from Hyde's Liquid layout, ported to Nunjucks templates. The CSS largely follows the original styles, with some WCAG contrast fixes. The toolchain uses highlight.js for code highlighting, markdown-it-eleventy-img to process images in Markdown, and Fontsource for fonts.
The repository provides demo URLs for four platforms: Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Render, and Vercel, indicating it can be deployed directly to these static hosting services. The license is MIT, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution, but third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons require separate license verification.
Is it right for your project?
Use Cases
- Building a personal blog focused on post lists and detail pages
- Needing a Markdown writing site with code highlighting and image processing capabilities
- Wanting to use an existing theme as a base and replace it with your own styles and content structure
- Deploying to static hosting platforms such as Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Render, or Vercel
Suitable For
- Individual developers familiar with or willing to learn Eleventy and Nunjucks
- Writers who need a blog with a classic typographic style
- Front-end developers who want to start from a starter and customize the theme further
Getting started & customization
Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.
- 1
The repository depends on Eleventy and markdown-it-eleventy-img; refer to package.json for specific versions
- 2
The template is the author's personalized configuration, and the README states the project is still being adjusted; it is advisable to review the directory structure before use
- 3
Third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons must be checked separately under their respective licenses
- 4
The MIT license requires retaining the copyright notice and the full license notice when distributing copies or substantial portions of the code

- The code is provided as is; warranties and limitations of liability are governed by the original license and applicable law.
Additional costs & items to verify
- This repository is an Eleventy blog starter template and requires Eleventy and Nunjucks skills; it is not an out-of-the-box general-purpose website.
- The author states the template is highly personalized and in long-term development; assess stability and adaptation costs before use.

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.
The catalog identifies Eleventy as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.
