Template Details

Waffles is a Hugo blog theme created by the author for their personal site CyBlog. The theme uses a minimal, responsive dark design, with colors drawn from the familiar "hacker" terminal look: a black-gray background paired with green text. According to the README, its design is influenced by the Risotto Hugo theme, and its name comes from the author's Shih Tzu.

The current version is fairly basic and suits simple blog posts on hacking or cybersecurity topics. The theme uses pure HTML/CSS and does not rely on JavaScript or frameworks; pages adapt to different screen sizes, including phones; it supports a favicon (Font Awesome), tags, and an About page.

Installation involves cloning or downloading the repository into the Hugo site's themes directory, then setting theme = 'waffles' in hugo.toml or hugo.yaml. Menu, site title, description, and copyright information can be modified in the configuration file, and the exampleSite directory provides a sample site for reference. The README marks the theme status as "Under Development," indicating that features are still being developed.

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

Waffles 🧇 is a minimal and responsive dark Hugo theme created for my CyBlog website.
The colorway takes inspiration from the cliché "hacking" computer terminal look — a black/grey background with green text. The theme is named after our Shih Tzu, Waffle, or "fifi" for short, and was heavily influenced by the Risotto Hugo theme.
