Template Details
This is a personal website template for academic researchers, open-sourced by the author after building their own academic homepage. The template is written in HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap 4, with a page structure organized around academic scenarios. It includes sections for a personal bio, Publications, Projects, Honors, Recent News, and Miscellany, and provides both desktop and mobile layouts.
To use it, create a copy via the repository's Use this template button, then edit the personal information in index.html, replace the avatar at img/profile.png and the site logo at img/site-logo.png, and fill in your own content following the existing card format in each section. Styles are centralized in css/style.css; the default theme color is purple, and colors and fonts can be adjusted in this file. Social icons use Font Awesome 6.
The template is released under the MIT license and may be used, modified, used commercially, and distributed for free, provided the copyright and license notice are retained when distributing. Third-party assets in the repository, such as demo images, fonts, and icons, require separate license verification and cannot be judged solely by the code's MIT license. In the README, the author notes that the design references personal websites by Nelson Liu, Yung-Sung Chuang, Ethan Perez, and others, and suggests retaining the footer attribution.

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.
The catalog identifies HTML as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

While building my own academic website, I spent countless hours looking at other researchers' websites and learning from their designs. After finally getting mine to a place I was happy with, I thought it might be helpful to share my template with others who might be on the same journey.
This is a simple template built with HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap 4 that I use for my own website. It's designed to be easy to customize and includes sections for the things most academics need - publications, projects, and other work. If you're looking to create your own academic website, feel free to use this as a starting point and modify it to better suit your needs.
