Template Details

This template is a Next.js robot application skeleton running on Wandelbots NOVA. The README states that you can use the NOVA CLI to run `nova app create myapp -g "nextjs_app"` to generate a new project. The template includes Next.js App Router support, TypeScript type checking, and Biome linting and formatting.

For development, the template uses pnpm to manage Node versions and dependencies; first run `pnpm install`. For local development, you need to provide three environment variables in `.env.local`: `NOVA_DEV_INSTANCE_URL`, `NOVA_DEV_ACCESS_TOKEN`, and `CELL_ID`, to connect to a remote NOVA instance; then run `pnpm run dev` and open http://localhost:3000 in a browser to view the result.

For deployment, the README states that after the NOVA CLI has been configured with Docker and an image registry, you can use the provided Dockerfile within the repository to run `nova app install .` to deploy the application directly to a robot cell. The README does not provide information about the application's specific functionality, page structure, performance, or production environment suitability.

  • External services such as domains, hosting, databases, payments, or AI may incur additional charges.
  • This template is a robot application skeleton built specifically to run on the Wandelbots NOVA platform, and its use cases are limited to the NOVA platform.
  • New projects must be generated via the Wandelbots NOVA CLI, depending on the NOVA toolchain.
  • Local development must provide the NOVA_DEV_INSTANCE_URL, NOVA_DEV_ACCESS_TOKEN, and CELL_ID environment variables to connect to a remote NOVA instance.
  • Before deploying to a NOVA instance, the NOVA CLI must first be configured with Docker and image registry support.

How this score is calculated

Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.

The catalog identifies Next.js as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

# Next.js NOVA app template

This template provides the skeleton of a [Next.js](https://nextjs.org/) robot application built to run on [Wandelbots NOVA](https://docs.wandelbots.io/).

You can generate a new project with the [NOVA CLI](https://portal.wandelbots.io/en/download) by running `nova app create myapp -g "nextjs_app"`.

⚡ Next.js with App Router support

🔥 Type checking with TypeScript

📏 Linting & Formatting with Biome

## Development setup

First install [pnpm](https://pnpm.io/), which is used to manage the node version as well as the packages.

## Installing dependencies

```bash
pnpm install
```

## Local development with a NOVA instance

You can run your app locally for development and connect it to a remote NOVA instance by providing the `NOVA_DEV_INSTANCE_URL`, `NOVA_DEV_ACCESS_TOKEN` and `CELL_ID` environment variables in `.env.local`.

For example, if your instance is at `my.instance.wandelbots.io` and your cell is called `cell`:

```bash
NOVA_DEV_INSTANCE_URL=https://my.instance.wandelbots.io
NOVA_DEV_ACCESS_TOKEN="..."
CELL_ID=cell
```

## Running the dev server

Once everything is set up, you can run the NextJS dev server:

```bash
pnpm run dev
```

Open [http://localhost:3000](http://localhost:3000) with your browser to see the result.

## Deploying your app to a NOVA instance

If you have the NOVA CLI set up to [work with Docker](https://docs.wandelbots.io/latest/developing-typescript-quickstart#set-up-docker-and-registries), you can deploy your NOVA app into a robot cell directly from the repo using the provided `Dockerfile`:

```bash
nova app install .
```
