Template Details
This is an open-source template for a software developer's personal resume website, forked by RomanTechnologies from tbakerx's react-resume-template. The template uses React and TypeScript, is built on the Next.js framework, and uses Tailwind CSS for styling. Data for all site sections is kept in /src/data/data.tsx, with type definitions in dataDef.ts in the same directory. Example images are located in src/images/ and imported in the data file. The README states that this version is v2, which reorganizes and modernizes the site sections compared with the older version.
For the workflow, you need to prepare a Node and Yarn environment first. After forking and downloading the repository, run yarn install to install dependencies, then run yarn dev to start the local development server, usually accessed at http://localhost:3000. After modifying the data file and saving, changes appear on the page. For deployment, the path given in the README is deployment to Vercel.
Limitations to note: the contact form only implements input and state handling; form submission and email sending need to be integrated separately, and the author personally recommends Sendgrid in the README. The repository uses the MIT license, allowing free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version's code, but when distributing, the copyright notice and the full MIT license notice must be retained. The code is provided as is; third-party assets such as demo images, fonts, and icons need to be checked separately under their respective licenses, and external services such as domains and hosting may incur separate charges.
Is it right for your project?
Use Cases
- Building a personal resume and portfolio website for a software developer
- Using it as a reference project for learning React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS together
- Replacing data and images on the existing template to quickly generate a personal site
- Deploying to Vercel as an online personal homepage
Suitable For
- Developers who need a personal resume website and are willing to modify the data file themselves
- People familiar with the Node and Yarn workflow who can install dependencies and run the development server themselves
- Developers who accept integrating an email service themselves to complete contact form submission
- People who want to modify and distribute based on MIT-licensed code
Getting started & customization
Use these recorded setup notes alongside the repository instructions for your chosen version.
- 1
Install the latest stable version of Node and Yarn first
- 2
After forking and downloading the repository, run yarn install in the project directory to install dependencies
- 3
Run yarn dev to start local development; the default address is usually http://localhost:3000
- 4
Modify site content in /src/data/data.tsx; replace or add images in src/images/ and update the imports
- 5
The contact form requires integrating an email sending implementation yourself; the author recommends Sendgrid in the README. For deployment, refer to Vercel's Next.js deployment guide
License & source material
Usage conditions & limitations
Free to use · keep license noticeThis entry covers the free version under the MIT license in the public repository; the free scope is the code of this version and does not mean external services or third-party assets are free.
Must comply with when using
- Free use, modification, commercial use, and distribution of this version's code are allowed.
- When distributing copies or substantial portions of the code, retain the original author's copyright notice and the full MIT license notice.
- The code is provided as is; warranties and liability limitations are governed by the original license and applicable law.
Additional costs & items to verify
- The contact form only implements input and state handling; form submission and email sending must be integrated separately, and the template itself does not include usable email sending functionality.
- The README author personally recommends Sendgrid as the email service provider; it is an external third-party service that may require account registration, an API key, and may incur fees.
- The deployment path points to the external hosting platform Vercel; using this service requires account registration, and its free quota and pricing policies are determined by Vercel and may incur additional charges.
- Running and building require the latest stable version of Node and Yarn to be installed locally in advance, which are external environment dependencies.
- Demo images, fonts, icons, and other third-party assets must be checked under their respective licenses and cannot be judged solely by the code's MIT license.
- External services such as domains, hosting, databases, payments, or AI may incur separate charges.

How this score is calculated
Our heuristic uses license records (up to 30), a demo link (12), a preview (10), stars (15), recorded maintenance (15), description completeness (8), feature records (5) and classification data (5). It is not a code, security or performance test, or a Google score. A link does not establish tested functionality.
What to verify for this project

A demo link is listed. Check it with your own content and viewport sizes; its presence does not confirm that forms, authentication or payments work.
The catalog identifies React as the primary stack. Check the actual dependency manifest and lockfile for versions and hosting requirements. These notes use recorded metadata, not a code audit or a deployment test.

New features: 1. Completely rebuilt with React and full typescript support 2. Built on the [Next.js](https://nextjs.org/) framework for easy server side rendering/static generation, image optimization, api routes, and deployment 3. Styled entirely with [TailwindCss](https://tailwindcss.com/) 4. Re-organized data population file for customizing site. 5. Significant improvement/modernization of all site sections **Looking for the old version? You can find it [here.](https://github.com/tbakerx/react-resume-template/releases/tag/v1.0.0)** ## Description This is a React based personal resume website template. Built with typescript on the Next.js framework, styled with Tailwind css, and populated with data from a single file, you can easily create, customize and host your own personal website in minutes. Even better, the site is fully mobile-optimized and server-side rendered to ensure fast loading and a clean UI on any device. Read on to learn how to make it your own. ## Make it Your Own! ### 1. Make sure you have what you need To build this website, you will need to have the latest stable versions of Node and Yarn downloaded and installed on your machine. If you don't already have them, you can get Node [here,](https://nodejs.org/en/download/) and Yarn [here.](https://yarnpkg.com/getting-started/install) ### 2. Fork and download this repo (and star if you like!) Next, find the `Fork` button in the top right of this page. This will allow you to make your own copy, for more info on forking repo's see [here.](https://docs.github.com/en/get-started/quickstart/fork-a-repo#forking-a-repository) After this, download to your development machine using the green `Code` button at the top of the repo page. ### 3. Install dependencies and run Once you have your own copy of this repo forked and downloaded, open the folder in your favorite terminal and run `yarn install` to install dependencies. Following this, run `yarn dev` to run the project. In your terminal you should be given the url of the running instance (usually http://localhost:3000 unless you have something else running). ### 4. Customize the data to make it your own All of the data for the site is driven via a file at `/src/data/data.tsx`. This is where you'll find the existing content, and updating the values here will be reflected on the site. If you have the site running as described above, you should see these changes reflected on save. The data types for all of these items are given in the same folder in the `dataDef.ts` file. Example images can be found at `src/images/` and are imported in the data file. To change, simply update these images using the same name and location, or add new images and update the imports. ### 5. Hook up contact form Due to the variety of options available for contact form providers, I've hooked up the contact form only so far as handling inputs and state. Form submission and the actual sending of the email is open to your own implementation. My personal recommendation for email provider is [Sendgrid.](https://sendgrid.com/) ### 6. Make any other changes you like Of course, all of the code is there and nothing is hidden from you so if you would like to make any other styling/data changes, feel free! ### 7. Deploy to Vercel and enjoy your new Resume Website Deploying your new site to Vercel is simple, and can be done by following their guide [here.](https://vercel.com/guides/deploying-nextjs-with-vercel) When you're all done and the build succeeds, you should be given a url for your live site, go there and you'll see your new personal resume website!
